[Engine] how to remove the EGR clamp?
#1
Hi All,

I am in the process of trying to clean the EGR valve (1.6hdi 9HXC without FAP with EGR heat exchanger), but I am having a real problem with removing the EGR clamp. It just does not want to bulge. Tried with pliers and a small screwdriver, but it just cannot undo it.

Will this tool work on these clamps:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B013...bw_c_x_1_w

I can also get a simple pincer pliers and try with that. Does anyone happen to know the exact tool for undoing these. I have already bought a screw type clamp to replace it, so I only need to undo it and not clamp it back together.

Many thanks indeed for any help.

Yes, they are the pliers for that exact job, they are quite fiddly to use, but well worth £5. Trick is to try & not distort the clip at all when removing it, so don't bend it open etc, the less you mess with it, the easier it will fit back on.

Many thanks indeed. I ordered a pair and will see how it goes.

Hi All,

Not to revive an old thread, but managed to remove and replace my EGR valve with a new one, using the clic-r pliers. Could not undo the bolts holding the upper part of the EGR valve, I even broke 3 bits while trying to do it. I think there were some loose bits in the upper part and the cleaning with an EGR cleaner did not work at all.

I made a video of the whole procedure, so if anyone wants to replace their EGR valve, you can find it here:  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdsexBbxW44)

The clic-r pliers were these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-89791-Cl...000PJ8GX4/
The new fitted EGR valve was Haas from eurocarparts: http://www.eurocarparts.com/search/424730151

Cheers
