Hi folks,
I'm new here so forgive me if I've placed this in the wrong forum
I have a 2007 plate Peugeot Partner 1.6HDi 90BHP in need of an engine. I've managed to source a complete 90BHP engine out of a Citreon Berlingo at a reasonable price. From reading and checking around for quite some time, I understand that the engines were largely the same across the range (Peugeot, Ford, Citreon, etc...) and that there was no difference in the block between a 75, 90 or 110BHP
My question is in relation to the injectors / fuel pump and the ECU. Would I be okay to drop in the Berlingo engine with it's injectors and pump, paired with my existing Peugeot ECU? Or will I need to source a Berlingo ECU or work some computer magic on my own ECU? Also have my existing fuel pump from the Peugeot if this is needed in the equation
Thanks

It won't start unless you get it recoded by diagbox inside the ecu.
The injectors have a specific code stored inside them and it needs to mat h the codes inside the ecu.
Once this is done, it shouldnt have any issues.
The 75hp and 90 hp are the same engine. The 110hp uses different injectors and turbo, but all the rest is the same.

I need to double-check so that I can get the ECU with the replacement engine
Failing that, I'll need to swap over my injectors and ECU from the Partner engine... which isn't too appealing. I've heard the injectors were prone to leaking and welding themselves to the head
Off tangent but out of curiosity... what gave the 90 the 15BHP advantage over the 75 considering they were the same engine. Was the 75 simply de-tuned "at the pump"?

Thanks Jed. Good to know as I had heard quite a few different theorys on how they tuned back the BHP
Going back to my engine swap... what would folks recommend:
1. Get the replacement engine (with it's injectors) and the ECU for that engine. Would I also need the key and a BSI(?) ?
2. Get the replacement engine and swap out it's injectors with those from my existing engine, sticking with my existing ECU, etc...? Do I need to pay attention to which fuel pump I use... replacement or existing?

Keep your stock ecu, transplant the engine and have it coded with diagbox.
Changing out ecu's will mess things up such as your mileage count and immobilizer errors.

Hmm... okay
"diagbox" wouldn't be a common phrase round my way... I doubt my mechanic has ever heard of it infact! Will need to ring round and see can I arrange to get someone specialising in this work down for an evening
Thanks again

Take a look on the French Car forum, there's a few members in the Peugeot section from Ireland. They also have a list of members with Diagbox / PP2000.
From the looks of things, you need to keep as much from the old Peugeot engine as possible specially the fuel pump & also the common rail if at all possible, if the injectors are ok, maybe just swap them too? If your old ECU does not see any electronic changes, it won't know any difference afaik.

I've posted over there just now so I'll see what comes up. Bit surprised to hear the existing pump and rail might need to be retained so I've asked over there if the new pump and rail can be coded into the ECU also, considering I'll have to get the new injectors written in to it
Thanks for the help folks

Without knowing if the fuel systems are Siemens or Bosch it's hard to say what needs to be retained in order for things to work with the least effort. I've not seen a Partner engine, but I did read somewhere that one of the differences is the Partner uses Bosch systems, but the Berlingo uses Siemens. Maybe that only applies to some of the range, but mentioned it just in case.
