Change of Berlingo
#1
After 8yrs & 81k miles of my 09 XTR it was time for a change. Perfect timing a month before road tax rises steeply so this one is still £30pa. I got a very good deal from my local Cit garage so happy enough. It's a 100bhp Hdi manual Feel model which has aircon as standard. Solid red which saved £500odd over metallic. Only extra was dealer fitted swan neck towbar & 13pin electrics. It came with front fogs & DLRs, tinted glass & opening tailgate window. I didn't think any of that was standard with Feel model. It's good when a plan works. I ordered the car in December for Mar 1st delivery. 10 week delivery from factory & it arrived in country a week ago so it's factory fresh.

I didn't consider it was worth waiting another year or more for new model which will probably be bigger & more expensive. This one is great. It's low tech with 5 steel wheels so I can wear all 5 tyres out. It actually came with a 'temporary spare' a cost cutting exercise by Cit, I think with smaller cheapo Kleber tyre. They changed that for a matching Michelin spare foc. Been out for a 60mile trip today & it's all good. Hoping for 10yrs out of this one.  Cool

I think red was a good choice very easy to touch up when you get the odd chip I think chrome handle covers would make a nice finishing touch

I've got the same but no fogs or DRL's.I had the fogs on my last Berlingo but found them useless.Mine is now 1 year old but came with a "real" spare as standard.I wouldn't consider a car that doesn't have one.The red polishes up real well.Enjoy it.Cruise control is handy as well.

Chrome door handles? Where do you stop? I'm not going to even start pimping it. Smile  I see my car as just another household appliance like my fridge or washing machine. I do like the colour though. My 2005 1.9 'lingo was that colour. I wanted to order my '09 'lingo in same colour but the XTR was cheap from stock so I went with the silver for 8yrs. Made up for it this time. Ordered car in colour & spec I wanted. I wasn't expecting the fog lights or opening tailgate window & could have done without them. I had to replace busted fog lights twice on my last car. It don't 'arf hurt your hand. The tinted rear glass is nice though. I'm always suprised how much extra metallic costs, £500? It can't cost that much extra for the paint unless the process takes longer?

Cool. I'm on my second too. What else is there as useful for the money? Though mine is a Peugeot this time...

Does the clear cote prevent the red from fading too soon? I had a red Ford Fiesta once, that faded badly to a pinkisk colour in about 5 years. I have been told that red is the worst colour for fade.

Good luck with your new car, it looks very nice.

Is the tow bar removable when not in use ? ...  as it does not half hurt when you forget about it and walk into it at shin level !

Considering the present Witch hunt on Diesel cars , I'm not sure if we'll see any of them on the roads in 5 years let alone 10.

Every 10 year old knows as well, red cars are at least 10% faster than anything else on the road. Do they do a van in that colour ?
Handles would look good in satin black but red is a great colour.

So where does this bit go then ?
