[Engine] Engine spluttering when fuel at 1/3 full
#1
Hi everyone!
I have an early 2003 (mk2) 1.9 diesel non-turbo. Lately, I've noticed that it starts spluttering (and on one occasion cut out briefly) when the fuel gauge is starting to approach the one quarter full mark. I keep my van serviced regularly and change the diesel filter with each service. I also add injector cleaner into the fuel tank occasionally before a service. Also, I get my diesel from a reputable source and I am certain it is 100% clean and not tampered with. Has anyone on this fourm encountered this problem or something similar? Any help/pointers are greatly appreciated.
Regards,

First off it could be the gauge telling porkies - stands a good chance

the next thing is the fuel pick up could be gummed up - the amount of bio in the diesel is causing a slime to grow in fuel tanks. - its a tank off job to check any of my suggestions so it may be a simple case of keeping the tank topped up and carry on as is.

No worries always take the simple option until you have some time to look into things further.
