hi,not sure where to post this (its my first post) ive got an 03 1.9d berlingo van when i bought it the van started first time from cold but idled ai 1200 rpm even after a long drive the van still idled at 1200 got someone to turn the tick over down to 900rpm van starts from cold ok but idles at 900 all the time is this a fault in the cold start thermostat how can i check the operation of the cold start thermostat thanks for an help

Mine packed up a while ago, it is an easy fix but you need to drain the coolant (good excuse for a flush ) The genuine part costs around £30. I'll put the number on here later.
It's easy to check. Look at the position of the cold start lever on the pump and see if it has moved when the engine warms up. Quite a common part to fail.
1.9d Mk2 (M59/BE4/5) with battle scars from a conservatory attack. Previously owned a 1.4i Mk2 Forte.
