[Transmission] Gearbox identification
#1
Hi, I've just bought a  Berlingo Multispace "Forte", (First reg Sept 2003), to replace my older first generation. According to my Haynes book it is fitted with a DW8B engine and the gearbox should be a BE4/5N. Is there anyway of differentiating this gearbox from previous models as from what I read the clutch release bearings are different. I need to replace the clutch, but don't want to have the car in pieces in my friends garage before I order the clutch kit! It appears that the actual clutch pressure and driven plate are the same. Can anyone shed any light on this please. Also am I right in thinking that the cam belt and water pump are the same on DW8 and DW8B engines?
Thanks in advance. Tim.

Thanks for the links Geoff, but I'm none the wiser! As with all sites I've searched gearboxes are refered to as BE3 or BE4. My Haynes book says that up to sept 2002 the gearbox is a BE3/5, post Sept 2002 it's a BE4/5. Do I assume that a BE4/5 Gearbox, (As the book says my car should have), is the same as a BE4?
Apparently the 2.0 HDi also has the BE4 box, but as far as I can see there are 2 different release bearings. As for the timing belt and water pump, I think I've identified the right one.
