#1
Thumbs Up
Hi guys my 09 berling 1.6tdi has snapped cambelt and probally not worth pulling off the head , if I wanted to put ib a 2.0 tdi would it be a straight swap or is it worth checking damage on a 160.000 mile engine that was good before this never used oil and started in all weathers thanks guys

The 1.6HDI has rocker arms that open the valves, these are a weak point that break if the piston hit the valves,  so the damage may only be the rocker arms if your lucky.

Hello carsevoso welcome to the forum Smile Has said you mite get away with it take the rocker cover off and see it rocker arm's have broken off and go from there at 160'000 mile's has it got any service history if you don't have service history the first thing to do is have the all belt's and water pump done i think it's 110'000 mile's or ten year's i know hindsight is a wonderful thing from me hope it can be sorted for not to much money .
