Hi,
I've just bought a 2009 Berlingo XTR which was a big step for me, I'm not quite feeling the love yet as I miss the 2.0HDI engine of my 2003 Xsara Picasso LX and also the larger internal compartments!
I hope it will grow on me as I spent a lot of time deciding what to get. I'm an ecologist and I needed something which would take me along bumpy, muddy farm tracks. I'd saved up a bit and thought now was a good time to 'upgrade'. I also really really wanted air con as I hate being stuck in a hot car.
I'm glad to meet you all and I'm looking forward to maybe learning about my new jalopy and hopefully I might be able to contribute something soon too!

Hi Figmeg and welcome. What sort of ecological studies do you do?

Thanks Jed, will do, it's a diesel with 73000 on the clock but has a full service history and I'll make sure I keep up with it. I've just discovered the horn doesn't work (or very occasionally) so I hope that comes under the warranty - they dealer had just put it through an MOT so I don't see how it passed really but I'll give them a call tomorrow! Also the heater dials don't light up at night. My ladders fit in a bit better than they did in the Picasso though although they don't quite fit in the interior roof bars which I just bought off ebay but never mind!

Thanks 3rensho, mainly bat and newt surveys which are needed as part of planning applications since they're protected species. So hopefully soon my new car will smell of pond instead of the previous owner!

That sounds like interesting work. I like bats. Did an evening course at the local Uni. on bats a few years ago. Amazing creatures and so soft when you pet them. Fun to feed them meal worms.

Aha, yes they are! Yes, they can put away lots of mealworms given half a chance!
