CarPlay link problem

Hi can anyone help with my dilemma? 
I own 2016 berlingo enterprise and can't link CarPlay to iPhone 6s
Tried everything possible, icons on in car systems and on my iPhone 
Tried with lightning lead still no joy.
Can anyone help?

Have you set the permissions on your phone to work with carplay?

You will need to run it from the cable as it isn't compatible with bluetooth just yet - make sure you are plugged in via the usb port in the passenger footwell - it is inside the pocket which also makes a handy place to store your phone.

I assume you have iTunes on your computer, have loaded your CDs and transferred them to your iPhone.
It takes my car (C4) a few minutes to do the handshake, but the process was quite easy and works well.
