Cruise control (again)
#11
I have posted part numbers for the stalk (with and without speed limiter), and a pdf document with detailed instructions on how to install here in the forum...
let me see...

"How to fit and use Cruise Control
Hardware installation
This instruction is based on a 2012 Berlingo 1000 HDi90 van. The clutch switch and
dual contact brake light switch were fitted already. Checking the brake light switch is
not easy – please see separate instructions.
For cruise control you require:-
Cruise control switch (part number for Cruise/Speed limiter type - 6242Z8).
Clutch switch.
Brake light switch – dual contact type (4 wire).
On later vehicles the cruise switch controls two functions – cruise control and speed
limiter. For the speed limiter to work the throttle control has to be replaced. I did not
replace this as I only wanted cruise control and therefore the speed limiter does not
work.
Once the above are fitted, then cruise control must be activated in the cars ECU. Please
see separate instructions.
To install the control switch:-
1. Drop the steering down and towards you. Engage the steering column adjuster lever.
2. Remove the two Torx 15 screws that fix the lower indicator switch cowling. These are
close the steering wheel.
3. The cowling is still held at the steering wheel end by a central clip that locates on the
indicator switch unit. Pull the lower cowling towards the steering until the clip
dislocates and then drop the cowling down at the front.
4. Push the upper cowling upwards out of the way. No need to remove completely.
5. The cowling is located by a lug at the rear. Moving the cowling forward will release
this lug, then drop the back of the cowling down, over the steering adjuster and then
the cowling can be eased off the ignition switch. It will eventually come away, you
just have to get it right.
6. Once the lower cowling is removed, this exposes the indicator switch unit. On the left
hand side there is a plastic cover just in front of the indicator arm. This cover can be
removed by pulling it outwards and then discarded. Once removed, the cruise control
switch can be located in two slides and then pushed home until it locates firmly.
7. The lower cowling will now have to be cut. On later vehicles the switch opening is
marked in the plastic, so cut out along these markings. A worn hacksaw and then a file
will do nicely.
8. Re-assemble the lower cowling first. Slip it over the ignition switch and the move
nearly into place ensuring that it is over the steering column adjuster lever and the lug
is in a position to engage.
9. Drop the upper cowl down, but not all the way and ensure that the PVC shield in
located inside the lower cowling and that it doesn't foul anything.
10. Position the lower cowling in position just in front of the indicator switch unit,
between the steering wheel. Push the cowl towards the dashboard and the front clip
will locate. The rear lug will also locate at the same time.
11. Push the upper and lower cowls firmly together and refit the 2 Torx 15 screws.
12. Re-adjust the steering to your preferred position.
Programming
These instructions were taken from the internet. I have no Lexia and paid a dealer to do
the programming. So these instructions may not be wholly accurate.
Using DiagBox with Lexia
1. The Engine will have to be off but the ignition on for the ECU config.
2. Engine - ECU & BSI CONFIGURATION1 - Global Test
3. Engine ECU
4. Configuration - once in the Configuration menu scroll down until you see Cruise
control. It will display "absent" - change this to "Present" then press F5 to configure.
5. It should display "Configuration carried Out"
6. If this fails repeat.
May also need to set
1. Engine ECU.
2. Injection.
3. Set RDV/RVV to present.
Back out of the engine ECU and select BSI.
1. Select "configuration."
2. Select "Customer options"
3. Select "miscellaneous"
4. Scroll down until you see "Presence and type of cruise control/speed limiter" it should
say "value invalid" select this...
5. In this menu select the cruise control to present."

well got the laptop loaded with a new version of diagbox followed instructions and cruise control all working lovely. 1 thing i noticed that concerned me while i was having a look around was the millage on the ECU was higher than the clocks but after some thinking i converted miles into kilometres and there was the figure i was seeing on the ECU

Also above instructions nothing like what i had to do was a very simple process to activate install stalk log in with diagbox select activate cruise controll then it talks you thro it even counting down the waiting time between switching ignition on and off. Dealer time for the job is 1 1/2 hrs nearly think it it took me longer to cut the notch out of the cowling where the stalk slides than the rest of the job programin took 15 to 20 min max

Yes, the instructions were for an older version of Diagbox...In the more recent ones the activation process is easier. But you can still do it like it is on the instructions...
