Hi I have a Citroen berlingo multispasce 1.4 petrol I have just had fitted a new battery alternater and starter motor the problem I have is if I leave the vehicle for about 4/5 days and don't use it when I go to start it it is dead but my ignition lights come on. Once I have jumped started the vehicle it runs a dream and will start day after day as long as it is used every day. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Gary

Either the battery isn't getting enough charge into it or there is a continuous drain on it when the car is parked.
If you know that you're going to leave it for a few days you could take a battery lead off and see if it then starts OK after a few days. If electricity is being used then you'll see a spark when the battery lead is put back on - there will be a small spark when you do this anyway, but a bigger one would suggest that something is draining the power. If it does, then it's a matter of tracking down where the electricity is being consumed. Do you have interior lights that are staying on or CD player/accessory?
Make sure ignition is in off position when connecting/disconnecting battery.
You could go back to the person that fitted the parts and ask them to check out the charging rate of the alternator, or do it yourself with a meter - plenty of information sources on how to do that.
Good luck!

Check if the alternator is warm to the touch when it has been stood for a few days, the diodes can become faulty and allow drain.
So where does this bit go then ?
