[Warning Light] Towbar Electrics - Direct Wire on M59?

I have a 2004 HDi with a towbar I fitted yesterday but am holding off on the wiring for now until I get a clearer picture on fitting a relay or not.
I've read most if not all of the towbar links on here and come to the conclusion that the bypass relay is optional on the M59 as the wiring does not have any bulb failure sensors. I'd be interested to know from those that have done towbar wiring if they used a relay or not? I'd be grateful to hear from anyone that fitted a towbar without a relay and their experiences from doing so.

Fitted mine without a relay but it's only a 7 pin (not a more modern 13 pin) and the age of the vehicle (2005 hdi) means there is no bulb-failure electrics to worry about.definitely good enough for standard trailer towing.

fitted my 7 pin bar with no relay (2004 2.0 hdi) no probs.

I finally got round to doing mine a couple of days ago, seems fine so far.
