Voice activation

I've discovered that I have voice activation on my indicator stalk - but I've no idea how to use it.

What can it do? Can I use it to make phonecalls? If so, how?

Also, any instructions I can download to read on how it works?

The voice activation is for your connected phone. Hold the button in on the stalk until your phone responds.

Ah ok, might explain why Google is now wanting access to all my contacts, calendar and texts...not what I was hoping for but I know it is there now, thanks.

how do you activate voice activation

On my android phone I need to open the Google app and allow it access to all my contacts, calendar, texts, emails, photos, etc.
I'm guessing once I do that, I'll then just say 'ok Google, call Joe Bloggs' and it will.

Not ideal as I don't want Google having access to any of that stuff, I want access to the local contacts only, which doesn't appear to be possible.

we tried voice activation yesterday and it seemed to work except when we turned the ignition off the display stayed on, we thought it would turn off when we locked the vehicle but it didn't, upon returning to the vehicle and inserting the key into the ignition the battery light was flashing, everything when using voice activation the radio won't turn on or off its as if the radio crashes when trying to use voice activation, everything was working fine before we tried it
