I'm thinking about buying a 2007 petrol Berlingo 1.6 Desire. The only thing that puts me off is that it's done a very high mileage, 121000 miles on the clock. I don't know if that's way too much to even think about. I've looked at the MOT history and there's very few problems, just the odd advisory. What sort of mileage could you expect from this model on average over it's lifetime? Any idea what sort of price you'd expect to pay?

Price wise not a lot - try ebay for a guide to pricing.
milage is not a problem if its been serviced and looked after.

My 1999 1.4i has 240K Km(150K Miles?) on it. But I have recently done pretty much a complete overhaul of it.
The 1.6, though, doesn't have removable cylinder liners, so if it is worn out it would need to be taken to a specialist and have oversize pistons fitted.
Check service history, and if available, test results from the smog tests.
If service history isn't available... then it's not the car for you.
You may want to ask if it has the original rear axle or if it has been replaced with a recon unit since it's getting closer to bearing/torsion rod failure.

We went to look at the car but I found the clutch pedal hard to push down so decided not to buy. It had a full service history. It also needed two new tyres and saying it got through the MOT like that doesn't mean you don't need to change the tyres. I'd rather spend a bit more and buy something that will run for a few miles before I have to start getting things done.
