Door speaker replacement?!
#1
Hi all, was wondering what everyone's opinion was on just replacing the door speakers. Would I see much improvement with using the original head unit and just getting new door speakers or is would it be best having a new head unit aswell?

I'm looking at getting these door speakers. What lead patch would I also need as I've seen people talking about needing to change the connectors??

The tweeter grilles on mine at least don't contain a speaker, and I don't think they're cabled either.

Mine sounds acceptably OK with all the factory standard stuff, but I wonder how much improvement you could actually achieve just by replacing the lower speakers.  I'd say that populating the tweeter spaces has to be the best place to start improving things, with just the lower frequencies going to the lower one.  Lower frequencies are much less directional, so it matters much less that the speakers are at the wrong end of your body.

Well I was thinking the same as in doing the tweeters but I don't think my van has them either, and also guessing no wiring. I may try the new speakers out and if it comes to it I'll just get a new head unit also. How do I find out which head units can be used with the stalk controls and using the van display? The display isn't everything as I will probably just have range of miles left on for most of the time.

Thank you for the reply

My 08 plate van had the tweeters under the grills but my current 57 car didn't so I went to a nearby breakers and got a pair out of a scrapper. The wiring was there already you may have to have a good look for it though. It made for a better sound.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Hmmmm possibly could be there then....it's a lx model so pretty basic I think. I'll have a look when I'm home.....also I'll have a little look through the forum and see if anyone has wired tweeters in and how they done it.

Like Tomcat says, the wires are there, but it's strange the tweeters are not, I thought the previous owner had taken them out, I now have my second Berlingo & again - no Tweeters ??
