Removal of instrument cluster Mk 1

Can anyone be kind enough to give me the right steps from scratch, to remove the instrument cluster on a Mk 1 Berlingo X reg 1.9d. Need to send it off to be repaired, but wanted to get it out without damage to the facings and dash mouldings around it. I've searched google with no luck and thought I would ask before I start snapping the plastic in the attempt!

Just to let anyone know who's interested. Had a go today at removing the instrument cluster on my Berlingo Mk 1. Quite straight forward really and took about 20 minutes. You need a torx screwdriver head.

Here's the step by step run through:

1. Remove the 2 screws under the lip above the instrument cluster.

2. Remove the 3 screws holding the air vent above the radio, and pull out the vent.

3. Remove the 4 screws from under the housing between the steering wheel and the dash that hold the indicator and wiper stalks. Remove the top part of the housing.

4. Remove the 2 screws now exposed on the dash that were behind the top housing.

5. Remove the radio. I used an old metal coathanger to release the radio by pushing it into the 2 holes either side on the front of the radio which releases the locks. You can put one hand through the air vent to pull the radio towards you as you are releasing the locks, one side at a time. Unclip the connectors and aeriel at the back of the radio.

6. Remove the flimsy metal casing the radio slides through to expose the last dashboard screw at the bottom.

7. The instrument cluster cover should now just lift away to expose the 4 screws holding the cluster in place. Remove the screws.

8. The cluster will now lift out. Disconnect the 2 connectors at the back of the cluster.

Job done! It's probably wise to disconnect the battery before you start, and make sure you have the radio code available to enter when you connect back up.

Just reverse the above to put it all back together again.
