Newer engine from 2011?
#1
A Peugeot dealer told me that a newer version of the 1.6hdi engine was introduced in 2011 and that its a much better robust engine , Bit confused as i thought they were all the same DV6 engines ?

the change was from 16 valve (dv6ted4) to 8 valves motors (dv6c), and it was an overall improvement, where most known problems were tackled.

Yes Luis but the main problem with the 16v engines were:

Incorrect oil specked when launched 10w40 semi - not good with 12500 mile services.

Injectors were loose from factory - tighten them from new no problems.

There were a bit some more changes done: all have FAP (Euro5 compliance), the air filter box was changed to be easier to access, the diesel filter unit was changed for easier access/ cheaper filter replacement, and I am not sure about changes in the turbo and the turbo oil supply (banjo screws without filter, etc...), the eolys additive tank was improved (no bags in mine), the motors bhp is a tad higher, and the torque is electronically limited to 340 Nm (it can do 370!) so that it does not shred the gearbox primary...these are the changes I am aware of, but I am sure there were many more...

Correct, no DMF (dual mass flywheel). DMF comes only on 6 speed semi-automatic ("piloted") gearbox equipped vans, where the gearbox cannot handle even the 340 Nm torque, so the DMF is there to "mediate" and attenuate it.

the 16v have a DMF the 8v only have one in the semi auto models, manuals have a solid flywheel i believe 2011 onwards.
