Headlamp Converters...do you bother?

So the question is, for those of you that have ventured out of the UK into mainland Europe, do you bother with headlamp converters? I have in the past but in a recent trip that included Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg and France, I didn't bother [although I did have the set I used previously with me, that I could affix if needed] I just adjusted the beam downwards using the internal control and didn't get "flashed" by any oncoming traffic. Before anyone says anything, I know you are supposed to use them but my answer to that is, have you ever seen any of the foreign registered cars on UK roads using beam deflectors, because I'm pretty sure I haven't.

I ended up doing what you did - carrying them but never got fitted - in France last year. I bought them on the ferry to France and forgot about them until I went into the glove box a few days later.
