[Engine] Timing Belt
#1
Hi
I recently bought a one owner M59 03 plate with 60k on the clock . Its very clean and serviced but no evidence of a belt change so I set to ...
As you may imagine it was knackered , de laminating with splits on the smooth side . This got me thinking how long do they last until they fail ? I read somewhere that Citroen recommend 100k intervals , to me thats madness .
I also changed the water pump , idlers AND the horrid lucas pump for a bosch one . It starts instantly and sounds perkier than before also can be tweaked easier  Big Grin

100,000 miles or 10 years isn't it ?
So where does this bit go then ?

How long is a piece of string - is the answer to your question. As ffrenchie says ^^^ 100k or 10 years on the 1.9d although i would not go past 80k personally.

The newer diesels are up to 150k or 10 years
