Speaker Wires
#1
Hi Guys,

Just bought a 65 plate Lingo Van. I'm wanting to install some 6x9s in the rear and have been struggling to locate the speaker wires coming out from behind the stereo. I've had both door panels off and found the wires there but realised it would be easier to tap into the wires behind the stereo as the place where the wires come in to door through the plastic cover is so tight. Please can anyone help much appreciated Wink

Might be a bit late but here goes...
Hi there I had the same problem, I assume you want to use a lo to hi adaptor with the front speaker output to input an rca signal to the amp. you are right its easiest to do it behind the headunit and cut into the speaker wires. if you search the exact stereo number on the back in google images and then match the connector you should get a wiring connector guide, tip is to make sure you have left and right front speakers identified cut them with enough length on both ends to join crimpers or solder both ends. Use a 9v smoke alarm battery on the wires you cut going to the front doors just to check you have the right wires before you connect the headunit to the lo to high adaptor. I put 6x9s in my mdf behind the seats and covered with spray adhesive and acoustic carpet, mounted the amp on the driver side wall inside the load bay high up. had to then run another 2 cables back to the headunit to join to the speaker wires that go to front doors as I wanted those connected too. Getting the hole drilled in the bulkhead for the 10 gauge amp wire is a bit hard its hard to explain where to drill but its more or less directly behind the battery and then fish it through..and then seal it with silicone/fire proof sealer...to do that you need to take a chunk of fire retardant foam out first and be careful not to drill into any wires. Also you need to take the whole glove box out to do this. Quite a job to fit an amp whilst keeping the original headunit but worth it I love having decent audio and still have steering wheel and original bluetoot controls. Good luck.

And by the way use the little empty space in the passenger dash to join the speaker wires to the rca cable adaptor and then run all the wires up the passenger pillar to be neat. The space is accessible from a cover after you open the door (between the door and the dash there is a cover that you can prize off). right next to the fuse box. Thats where I have my cheap gps tracker too.
