I made a quick & easy single bed version that sits at about the same height as yours but I found I have problems getting in & out of the side door due to the height of my bed above the ground  and could see no way of closing the rear door once in bed so have considered lowering the bed as I've also taken the rear seats out but that would mean the loss of storage space. Maybe some foam would be better than the airbed, please can you post some details of what you used?
mmm. . .I have used it in a 2007(M59) and 2012(B9) the foam is 75mm . I have never had any problem closing the Tailgate, but getting in and out does take a "knack" and I am 6ft,  but after a few times it’s no problem.
Space wise I thought the old car had more space such as storage pockets etc.,  where new one a lot space has been lost such pockets and door storage although the seats both front and rear seats fold down easier the only other problem was the fitting for the parcel self / boot cover has a 3mm protruding lugs I had to move the box about 90mm to able me to unfold the bed without hitting the lug but have the solution for this when return from my holiday

I have a 2004 Multispace with the Modutop which looks the same as your pictures but the strap / loop for closing the tailgate ends up about 6" from the floor so it's not possible to use that for closing and there's no way I can see to open the tailgate from the inside. Maybe the 2007 is different in that respect?

You close the tailgate first and enter via the side door

Thanks again for all the info & pix. I've now lowered my bed by a little over 4" & there's still storage space underneath. I have some of those folding baskets, probably from Lidl at some point and they now fit snugly under. Hopefully getting out through the side door won't be so much of an early morning challenge in future.

Before I start I just wondered if anyone had any plans, however basic, that they might share.

Any help much appreciated.

Mark

Having had a good look at your pics and plans I have decided that I am going to give this a try.  Do you have details on the foam?  I know you say it's 75mm thick but do you also have details of the sizes it had to be cut to and where did you get the foam.  Any further help would be great

You can get the foam from https://www.efoam.co.uk/  who do a wide range of foams in all shapes and sizes cut to your size plus they offer a foam sealed covering which protects the foam  and offer a delivery service.

Hi Paul,
I couldn't bring myself to pay a grand for a ply box thanks so much for posting all of this between you and Mark. It's absolutely brilliant.
Could you let me know what did you use to cut the holes?
Cheers, Ian

I used a hole  cuter I used  cheap ones at first  but  Bobby a well known  brand (can't tell you what make I'm away right now) but  cut  a lot quicker and easier and use a jog cuter to join some long slots . I kept the cut pieces to adjust the height of bed if required.

I sold  my Berlingo and bought  a Grand Picasso Exclusive plus  made one the GP which  was a lot  easier  cheaper  and used the same bedding  which  fits perfectly
