Access key to Remote control
#1
Question
Hi guys,

At the moment I have access key but I would like to upgrade to key with remote control (car with central locking).
Is it possible?
Dealer said that`s not possible but I hardly believe it as central locking locks/unlocks all doors.

What are your thoughts/suggestions as I fed up (un)locking car with a key.

Thanks!!

Hi Mario welcome to the forum, unless the wiring and all the mechanical parts are fitted to you car it would be a very expensive job to retro fit central locking. Your best bet would be to fit a kit like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-REMO...xyg6BR1AEr
I fitted one of these kits to my old van and it worked a treat, well made and easy to fit. It takes about 4 hours to do a neat job.
Are we there yet????? Huh

I risk making an incorrect assumption here, but I can't imagine that a van with simple access key cannot be upgraded to remote locking.
If all the doors lock from the drivers door, i.e. Central locking, then everything should be there.
That's the whole idea of the way modern cars are built, so that they can easily be upgraded.
I have never tried to do it, but would imagine that all,is required would be the key, transponder code & diagbox, program it in & it should work.
I am prepared to be shot down in flames though  Smile

Seems logical that it can be upgraded from key only central locking to key & fob. A quick 1st check would be to confirm that a B9 with remote will lock & unlock all doors from the key. Out of curiosity I tried it on my M59 and it works. After that it will depend on the transponder hardware being in place, & as Lighty says some investigation / programming via Diagbox.

A quick Gurgle search shows this as a potential shortcut:

If there's a button to lock the doors from inside the van, I imagine it's possible to hack into that rather than one of the door locks.
