Error code P0170
#1
Hi again.
Following on from my previous thread regarding my Berlingo 1.9D having a intermittent engine warning light around 2000rpm under load a mechanic kindly plugged his computer in and got a error code read of P0170.
"Advance regulation variation in injection advance (check valve and pump timing)".
The garage has disconnected the EGR valve which has made it run spot on but this light and beep that goes with it is driving me up the wall.
Has anyone any ideas? I've been told the timing could be out? Thanks.

P0170 is a faulty MAF sensor isn't it ? Reconnect the EGR and disconnect the MAF on the intake pipe and see what happens.
So where does this bit go then ?

Just "borrowed" this from engine codes web site as to possible P0170 code faults. My old ( now defunct ) 1.9d bingo had the EM light on almost constantly and showed this error code on a garage reader. Pulled 45MPG and had the usual get up and go that the old 1.9d ever had........which was minimal at best anyhow!

P0170 code.
Possible causes - Intake air leaks, Faulty front heated oxygen sensor, Ignition misfiring, Faulty fuel injectors, Exhaust gas leaks, Incorrect fuel pressure, Lack of fuel, Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, Incorrect Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose connection. Tech notes - Dirty air filter, air filter housing or Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, or faulty MAF sensor are common causes for the P0170 code.
