If you're staying there for a year, try a local (Mallorca) insurer.
Before I moved to Gozo, I was doing the journey regularly and staying on the island for months at a time, using my UK car and UK insurer, and paying a hefty premium.
When staying there for a year, it turned out much cheaper to swap to a local insurer. They accepted my ncd without hassle, and it was accepted back when I returned to the UK.
Staying less than a year, it might not work

PS. Make sure your car is taxed for the entire period - UK tax if UK car - otherwise there is the possibility of it being impounded if the police get frisky. Don't ask .... !
