Tailgate lock
#1
Hi all ,don't if this has been covered before but can't find any threads !! My tailgate lock is not closing on the receiver, I've had a look (restricted of course) inside but cannot detect anything untoward, the lock won't wrap around receiver when shutting the tailgate, so is there something that might have snapped off ??? Any help would be much appreciated , thanks Gwyn

Slacken the screws off on the keep, the part fastened to the floor then try closing it. It might have got knocked out of alignment. There should be some adjustment on this part so try tapping it into place then tighten it back up.
So where does this bit go then ?

ok thank you ffrenchi, i just solved actually !!! i did adjust the keep after, but firstly i took off the lock that goes into the keep!! and i noticed it wasn't locking, i was locking it with the shaft of the screwdriver, and when i took the screwdriver away ,it was springing open!!i thought strange , then i prized open the plastic cover of the lock, i couldn't take it off,it was riveted ,and i could see something there that should'nt be there, so i got it out with a small long nose pliers, tried to lock it with a screwdriver again and worked straight away !!!the culprit was a piece of broken spring which i think has come away off the actuator arm and fallen into the lock !!! ps. i've always had trouble opening the tailgate with the handle so that broken spring off the actuator must have been the fault all along !! once again many thanks GWYN
