Mk1 1.9d BSI reset
#1
Hello all,

I was thinking about doing a BSI reset on my Berlingo to attempt to fix a few issues. The only problem is that all tutorials for BSI reset include something along the lines of:
  1. Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.
  2. Remove key open & close door test central locking system.
My Berlingo didn't come with central/remote locking. Also, mine is pre-facelift so doesn't have a lock button on the dash (there aren't any locking actuators in the door basically).

So you can see my conundrum. Is it still possible to do a BSI reset?

Cheers,

You can still do a reset , if you don't have c/locking or button just ignore those parts .

I have just done a reset this afternoon on a 1.6 HDi using a modified post from this forum which solved the non-starting, headlights on, wipers operating state which some members may be familiar with! I do not have central locking either. Credit is to original poster. The method is below:

Put the driver's window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off.

Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition.

Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds.

Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.).

Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.

Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality.

Start the engine and complete the system's check.

Hope this helps.

OK folks - pulling my hair out now. Have just done the BSI reset procedure (carefully!) - twice- and it hasn't cured my problem :- central locking on remote not working when left alone for about 5 mins., also the date/time keeps going back to January 2007. Any ideas please?
