Rear window cover

Not for a camper conversation but I figured you guys and girls would be best people to ask.

I've successfully tinted my rear side windows ( need to move my trials bike without it being on display) however I could not get the rear upto scratch. Anyone tried alternatives I thought about a curtain type setup maybe using suction or even some black 3m vinyl wrap on the outside as I have wrapped stuff in the past with success.

Hi Danny, seems like nobody had any better alternative ideas than you had!  I don't either but would be interested to know which idea you decide to go for any how it works out.  I have just had my window tinting kit arrive and am nervous about having a go at it.   The side ones that you did successfully, did you have to remove any of the internal plastic trim or anything?
Have just read the instructions which come with mine and they do say to watch their video first and that with the curved rear windscreens they suggest heat shrinking the film prior to fitting!   I think I'm going to be watching a lot of videos....   They also have some instructions that I cant understand as it sounds ambiguous to me.  I think they mean you roll it up and offer it up to the window a bit at a time.  Hope their video is clearer!   I did go for the pre-cut window tint in the hopes of making it easier but that rear one sounds tricky.  Would it have helped to have had two pairs of hands perhaps?
Did it come off easy when you decided it wasn't going to work?

Yes it came of easily on the rear as it was still wet I could tell it was beyond my ability ! That said I never tried the heat method so so give that a go and let me know how you get on lol

As for the side windows i removed them from the car and did them on wheelie bin, I don't think I would have got a good finish doing them in situ. There really easy to remove 3 screws in each window from memory there a torq fitting as opposed the usual flathead or posi drive.

Might be of help...I made some magnetic curtains out of blackout material from some old curtains and sewed some those little neodymium disc magnets into a hem, have attached a couple of pics to this message, they work well, cheers, Dan

Yeah...there's loads out there, I ended up using N52 10mm x 2mm neodymium disk magnets...deceptively strong, cost around £6 for 20 online.

Please take note of the 'N52'.
This is a 'strength rating' of the magnet.
The same magnets may also be found with rating as low as N35.
(Scale goes from N35 to N52 )

Higher N-ratings usually means more expensive magnets, but they're worth it since a N35 might have had to be nearly 4mm thick to generate the same holding force.
Or you'd have to use more of them.

If the rating isn't listed, particularly on eBay sales, odds are that they're the weaker versions.
