Hello from a Mk1 Multispace 1.6 (Petrol) owner
#1
I have used this forum a long time ago, and found it a very helpful and friendly place, So I'm just saying Hi again after a long absence.
I've had this car for almost 10 years and I love it. It's versatile, reliable and I've generally found it uncomplicated to maintain and repair.
But of course it's a problem that brought me back here (funny thing, that problems lead us to solutions!)
This time I've got a severely broken plastic block connector linking the heater pipes from the engine to the heater matrix through the bulkhead.
Haynes lightly recommend "Push the retaining clip to the left and remove the hose connector" but it seems to have welded itself on there. It looks as though I could just cut away the connectors with a Stanley knife or similar, but I'm not convinced that I know what I'm doing! For instance I haven't been able to locate a replacement part. Citroen main dealers being closed as it's Saturday. I've done several online searches with no result.
Anyone else had experience of sourcing this part, or know if it's possible to replace the block connector without removing the heater matrix?

Hi Paul, & welcome.
I had to replace the heater matrix on my van, it's a hell of a job, but if it's just the outer connector / the one with the two rubber hoses on, you should be able to just replace that part, yes as you say there is a metal retaining clip which you have to press while you pull the connector block off, they can be very tight, they have 'o' rings fitted, which can  'stick', making it more difficult, keep persevering, hope you have some luck.

Right! Got the damn thing off, but not without breaking it into two parts which allowed me to twist each one off with a pair of long nose pliers. Now all I have to do is locate a replacement and hope that it isn't supplied integral with the two hoses.
