[Engine] 1.9 gearbox problems possible engine swap advise
#1
hi new to the forum just looking for some advise

I bought an 07 belingo 1.9 diesel just over 2 years ago as my daily driver/work van in that time I have put 2 gearboxes in it now needing a 3rd 1st one I struggled to select gears and the second has now lost 5th gear it had all new selector rods on last time. now I haven't really got the money to buy another gearbox been a bad few months lol. So I'm looking at a few different options my dad has laying around a few different cars he said I can have if I want.

first is a Peugeot 106 1.5 diesel 1995 so would be very simple to get running have not looked at engine mounts but from memory are similar don't know about linkages ect
a Peugeot 306 2l hdi 2001 its the electronics that scare me on this but just wondering if it has been done and the complications it has thrown up before
he also has a belingo 1.6hdi but gearboxes are slightly different haven't checked the input shaft but were visual differences and an extra sensor on top of the 1.9 may have been crank sensor if someone could tell me if it fits I would just fit that box if not got complete engine to go in. I'm really not a lover of these ones but if its my only option ill go for it lol.
or just sell one to buy a correct gearbox just don't want to keep buying gearboxes that only last a year lol

any opinions will be appreciated thanks in advance
also if anyone has a good gearbox don't mind swapping some bits from the 1.6 belingo only took off the road because of leaky injector tidy van

I've never done a box in a 1.9d, and I've had several dw8's... what exactly are you doing to them lol, bullet proof springs to mind, none of the boxes listed will fit, and your other ideas could be very problematic, be cheaper selling your can for spares/repairs and buying a good un if I'm honest for what it's worth now...

Fitting different engines is a lot of work especially when you need to accompdat the electronics / codes etc

I'd fit another gearbox and be done with it, as said the Berlingo 'box is a good one so surprised at you going through so many. Do you drive like the Stig ?

Defo gearbox route, I've seen those boxes do 200-300k with no issues on several vans!

When you say that you've lost 5th gear, is it that the lever is in the correct position but no gear engages, the gear jumps out or the lever won't get to the 5th gear position /baulks?
If you have had selection problems have you looked at clutch releasing correctly?
