MK1 1.9 Alternator into a MK 2 2.0HDI
#1
Hi all,
New to the forum, I have a 01 MK1 1.9 straight dsl which I damaged beyond repair thanks to the local wild life :censored: However i have picked up 04 MK 2, 2.0HDI which needs an alternator.

Question is: Can i swap them out, only difference I see is that the connection for the battery light to the dash is a clip on the HDI rather than a eye on the 1.9 which i can get around with a bit of solder.

All comments welcome.

Also is there anything in pacific i should look out for on the MK 2, 2.0HDI?

Cheers,

Rob.

Update,
Removed both alternators, they are different:

1.9 Dsl = Lucas, 90 AMP, 12 Volt
2.0 HDI - Bosch, 150 AMP, 14 Volt, Bigger pulley size.
