Lads, have a fault on the parking sensor on my van. Coming up on the dash as a parking assist fault. Any ideas.

Check all the connections and they look good. Notice there is a control unit inside the back passengers arch.

Check the sensors are working, a working sensor gives off a quiet clicking / ticking sound which you can hear if you put your ear close to it.

I know on my car you have to have the engine running for the system to operate, it doesn't work with just the ignition on, if yours is the same you will need a helper to put the car in reverse whilst you listen to the sensors.

I had this once in my Partner...it was originated by a faulty reverse switch that sits on top of the gearbox (the actual sensor that indicates to the car BSI that you engaged the reverse gear). The switch was faulty giving an intermitent signal to the bsi, leading to this fault. Replacement costed less than 10 euros and buying a new, big socket tool to remove it and refit it.

It's  impossible to diagnose the fault without some diagnostic gear, diagbox being the obvious 1st choice. My Autel system would also do it.
In 99% of cases the fault will be one of the sensors gone faulty, which switches the whole system off.
Diagnostic gear will identify which one is at fault.

A bsi reset will NOT cure a fault with anything other than a bsi system and its associated can bus systems
