My M59 2005 2.0 Multispace windscreen washer works but starts about 5 seconds after you pull the stalk. The wipers have done about 3 sweeps by the time the water flows. Not good for the screen or the blades. I suspected a faulty non return valve in the washer bottle but I am not sure it has one. Apparently the pump has 2 outlets - one for the front wash and one for the rear. They both work but the delay is present on both. The motor starts immediately you pull or twist the stalk but the water takes 5 seconds or so to appear. Any advice welcomed.

I had exactly the same fault early this year. Did the same checks and it was the pump itself that had worn out. EBAY to the rescue and easy enough to do.

Thanks for the advice. New pump ordered today.
Sorry for delay in replying. I hadn't realised anyone had replied.
