The black plastic door trim on the passenger door got knocked off when the car touched the gatepost in icy conditions. Only one trip clip appears damaged and I can get a new one easy enough. Is refitting just a push on job? Or do I have to slide it sideways as well? Nothing in Haynes Manual!

Warm it up indoors before you fit it as well, the clips are probably brittle with the cold.
So where does this bit go then ?

Had this very same problem when my new Multispace was clobbered by a piece of scrap metal flying from a scrap lorry, on M25 at the time with nowhere to stop to retrieve the panel. Luckily no other damage and no visible damage to door. My motor had covered 203 miles from new so I bought a new one from local dealer for around £54, it came with the clips.
It was a simple job to push the clips into the door then just a smart tap to the panel over the clips to secure it.
I guess it would be impossible to remove this panel without breaking the clips, the few that were remaining in the dorm were just clipped off and the back bits just fell into the bottom of the door.
