I'm embarking on a variant of Gravity's excellent design. I'm building for a Mk1.5 (M59) so there is considerable less boot space. I'm trying to incorporate the fold up and out driver's side extra shelf. However due to a LPG conversion I also have the spare wheel in the boot which pretty much fills most of the 2/3 space. Hoping to design it so that it can be supported either across the spare wheel, or by the folding piece. The idea is that during the main summer camping period we could mount the spare on the roof, having just purchased a full berlingo ladder roof rack, but during the winter time just pop it back in the boot.
Additional fun is that the car is 120 miles away so precise measurement is impossible. Using a combination of measurements here and checking with my daughter over the phone as it's her car. Getting the bedbase measurements is going to need the actual vehicle as I'm still puzzling over the floating hinge and if there is enough space before the seat back catches it.
I have spotted a similar aged vehicle nearby and one day, I'm going to pop up and introduce myself and ask very nicely!
No exciting pics yet but hopefully when it is finished!
