[Engine] What alternator please

Hi all, first post and could be quite simple for someone.

I have a 53 plate 1.9d berlingo, has power steering but no air con.
what alternator do I use. I can find both 70 and 80 amp available, I don't believe the right one is necessarily on so looking at the old wont help.

any guidance on this will very much be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Note down VIN and give a dealer a bell. They should know.

The alternator that came off mine (2001) 2 weeks ago has a part no Valeo 96428802 80
which I think will be what you need. The 80 shows its for 80 amps

I had the same problem when trying to find out the correct anti-freeze. The local dealer parts dept said they can't give part numbers out, but they are printed on quotes... So he suggested I went in and collected a printed quote, which I did.

As far as the actual parts are concerned, I normally look here first if I'm in doubt:
