Engine swap
#1
Good day all.
I'm thinking of doing an engine swap in my  berlingo 1.6hdi 75bph mk1, are there anymore powerful engines that would drop straight in.

Well, you could try finding a 1.4i from an AX GTi, but I'd expect most of those are pretty much run into the ground by now.
Unless you have a serious issue with yours it's pretty much the optimal engine for your car.

Has the engine had it or is it still ok? If it’s ok then you should be able to get it remapped up to 100bhp perhaps? Otherwise a more powerful DV6 could go in.

Why a diesel v6? They make petrol variant of the Berlingo, get bits off one of those, swap bits over, use a 406 coupe V6 210bhp lump and box, change the ecu, engine wiring loom, gearbox, cable shifter swap for gear lever etc make new engine mounts, shorten shafts etc which is what you’d have to do for your original question with 110bhp engine over a 75bhp, so no more or less work being deadly honest, if anything it was about 10 days work to do mine total I reckon, so for a lay person I reckon 20-30 days (I worked at a Peugeot specialist for 10.5 yrs so I had an advantage!)

Honest answer is though I doubt you’ll get much that would drop straight in though, you’ll need ecu, wiring looms etc and have to modify stuff to suit, different gearboxes or ratios will be too short for pokier engines etc
