Hello there, I am a new member to this forum but currently a sad owner of an 02 plate MULTISPACE FORTE 1.9D. On Sunday just gone, taking my lad and his mates to play football, tootling along at 60 there was a grunt, bang and shedding of metal and oil and we crawled into a cul-de-sac at 5 mph spewing oil.
Next day and £40 lighter for it to be recovered to my place of work it looks like the engines blown.
Right, first point does anyone think its worth repairing? MOT passed Sept 2017, new back and mid exhaust, steering pump and alternator are less than 12 months old, decent tyres and seats, bodywork average for year, been a great workhorse, slept in it at Festivals, filled it to the brim with camping stuff, DIY gear, skip runs, kids and dogs, it was the car that never dies....until Sunday that is. What would it cost to whack a new 1.9d engine in it and is it really worth it? should it be scrapped, bits sold off and weighed in for the 80 quid a tonne they pay in Telford, or so I am told.
Advice and suggestions appreciated, the other sticking point is the £230 a year to TAX Bertie Berlingo. (named by my kids...not me)
Cheers GarySD
