Radiator/anti freeze advise
#1
After 16 years my radiator has finally started to leak and i'd like a little advise. My car is a 2002 Mk1 1.9 oil burner with only about 70k miles.I'm a little confused with all the available after market engine cooling radiators, so which do i use,i found a supplier called Mr Auto who seem to offer some of the best well known makes, and i will need to choose between Bolk @ £45.30.Valeo at £50.90 or Nissens at £53.90.
Has anybody used any of these makes,? which would you use ? which is the best ?
My second problem is with regard to the anti freeze, the cooling system holds 10.5 litres so 50% will be water [ deionised ] which i can sorce locally. Now the 50% anti freeze, do i put in 5litres of concentrate,or do i mix the concentrate with water as per the instructions on the bottle ,then put 5 litres of this in with 5 litres of deioised water into the rad,or as ive now mixed it with water do i put in 10.5 litres of the mix into the rad.Its always confused me can anyone help please. Huh

Valeo will be good choice.

Flush engine out with clean water then put neat antifreeze in to 50% of total cooling system quantity top up with clean water, Yes deionised is better, and bleed system. Start up with header tank cap off bleed again and add water until correct level, fit cap. Let cool and recheck.

I always add the concentrate to water in a bucket and fill the engine, keep any spare for top ups if needed.

Valeo for me.

Valeo & Nissens are both well known & trusted brands.

I've dealt with Mr Auto several times through Fleabay and the service has always been spot on
