Just been reading about CRIT'Air and came across a scam site, beware:

The scam site also implies that you need the badge everywhere and can't go to the south without it.

Several of these sorts of sites about & as well as ripping you off on sticker cost they do rather over egg the pudding about the requirement for a sticker which right now is only for city centres & some regions. It is difficult to find definitive info on the web.

City centres ZCR can be avoided but one does need to drive through the larger ZPA areas where restriction might come into force at times of high pollution. I have no idea if a sticker is required to drive main routes like motorways through ZPA or not. I go to France a fair bit so for 5€ I have my sticker from the official source.
