Wink
hey folks

new member, not a stranger to the French fan world currently having a Partner (I still call it berlingo). and previously having had a Nemo 1.2 HDI and a mk1 Berlingo 1.9. I'm enjoying the performance of the 2.0 HDI but still getting to grips with a few faults I have to deal with.
the Van was sitting for some time so there were a few jobs it needed.
so far I've given it a preventive service  as I'm unsure of the history with van along with some badly needed repairs.

So Far Ive replaced the following.

Oil & filter
Air & fuel filters
all fluids renewed
front Brake disc & pads
Timing belt & water pump
clutch
front tyres & wiper blades

then what was broken
New starter
new front passenger side spring & top mount
front drop links
replaced various bulbs in the dash

things left to do...
gear linkages
replace drivers side spring and top mount
sort out some Radio and antenna problems
figure out why the power steering is so heavy ( possible the pump has had it)
do some sound proofing
and continue to clean all the paint out of it as it was a painter van

Hi there welcome to the forum as for your steering have a look at the u/j joint at the bottom of the column. They tend to dry out and go stiff, use some motorbike chain spray on it and see if that helps.
Are we there yet????? Huh

hey thanks for the info
sorry for the annoying question but do I get at it from underneath or should I remove the rubber boot around the column in the drivers footwell?
Ive just discovered how much fun it it is changing a light bulb on the passenger side on a HDI is.

Get at the u/j from above by looking down the back of the engine and you will see it and use a small can of spray and you can coat it all. I found the best way to change the bulb is stretch your arm nice and thin double joint your wrist and cut a few fingers off or if you have the use of a small child get them to do it.
