Hi everyone. I recently just got a Berlingo 1.9 600d lx non turbo van and been loving it for the last 4 weeks. It's been good until this morning.
I tried getting in and the key fob wouldn't work, so had to unlock it manually. I noticed the interior light didn't come on when I opened the door, and when I tried turning the ignition to warm up the glow plugs, it went hay wire, the dash lights came on, the wipers came on and the head lights too. Any info will be much appreciated.

I might add that overnight the temperature dropped to -7. Don't know if that adds to the issue.

So when you got in and put the ignition on and it went haywire did it start and run ok?

Didn't know if I would damage anything, so didn't chance trying to start it. I've parked it up for now as the weather is so bad here atm, 10 min outside and I can't feel my fingers. Think I read on a different thread, the BSI unit needs resetting, but I'm not sure how to.

You still need to rule out the battery.
Testing the battery voltage with a meter with no load on the battery can give a good reading but the battery can still be dodgy.
When you put the ignition on the glow plugs will kick in, this will put a big load on the battery and the voltage may fall to a level that the electronic systems in the vehicle can't cope with and they throw a wobbler.
I would try starting the engine to see what happens.
You need to rule the simplest thing out first, if you start trying other things and jumping all over the place it makes it more difficult to find the fault.

Cheers for that, yes I agree, I want to rule out the easy components first. I wanted to try testing it while starting, but was a bit difficult with no extra person to help. Was wanting to get a hydrometer to test the water of the battery to see if it might be one cell that has decided to give up in this cold. I might just try jumper leads with another car first to see if it is just the battery...

I would put the ignition on and see if it goes haywire again, if it does turn off and put the jump leads on and see if it's still the same, if not try starting.
If it starts get some charge into the battery on the van then turn off and see if it goes haywire when the ignition is turned back on with some charge in the battery.
