Hi guys I have a 2002 2.0hdi rhy Siemens I’ve put a second hand engine in I’ve been having trouble getting it going, I have synchronisation but it’s just turning over doesn’t seem to be firing any diesel in, fuel pressure is 300, is there a fuel pump fuse or relay which could be faulty? Any ideas guys?

Cheers

There will be a fuse in the engine fuse box , look in the handbook for the correct one , it could be nos 9,25, 26 or 28.

You need to use a noid light or electrical test light on the injector wires if its pulsing then you know all is ok wiring side .

is your rev counter working ?

is there any air or fuel or smoke coming out of exhaust ? ive know people block these on engine changes .

does the engine turn over too fast ?

you say fuel is pressuring 300 bar so cannot be pump/filter/pressure sensor etc .

if injectors are not pulsing it could be many things from fuse / input signals to immobiliser seeing as you changed engine it could be missing wires or split wires but before you test injector are pulsing or not , this will give you more direction on finding problem .

you can also spray carb cleaner in inlet to see if it will run and pick up on that to test if you have engine fault or fuel issue , but don't use easy start .

Ok do I need to crank over to test the injector wiring? It will run on carb cleaner, but soon as you stop it stops, must be a wire or fuse?the engine turns oveout about 224rpm have tried a tow start nothing, no smoke at all from the exhaust Will have another look Cheers for Replys guys

If you have fuel 300 bar defo and engine runs of cleaner you can rule out fuel delivery and im sure 4 injectors would not fail at once , you can also rule out engine problems if it starts on CCleaner and crank signal tell me you have crank sensor at least but i think yours has a cam sensor as well .

i cannot help really now mate its getting serious , and need pro diagnostics .

If it was me now and if i had scanner too as i dont at the minute , id be looking at the code reader looking for faults and looking any live data for signs of crank and cam signals and other inputs / outputs that might help .

Id be looking at wiring diagrams for any fuses and relays that can turn injector wiring system off , looking to see if immobiliser was a problem and for any important earths for engine and ecu and sensors/injectors and for the wires to injectors to test .

Basically you need to check fuses and any grounds and earths you may of affected in engine swap - check see if immobiliser has shut it down and any reset procedures , if not you need to study a scanner and wiring diagrams and test all inputs and outputs for injectors and any ecu injector wires signal , power , relays , fuses and grounds .

I have the ECU pin out for your model , includes typical values . i have for all models if needed i might scan them one day and upload .

Great thanks for that reply that’s great yes got a scanner, the fault code ow coming up is P1641 which says Ecu control of nozzles, ye need a fuse layout so I can start chasing the power round and checking fuses and relays,

just found this might be worth check seeing as engine change other wise yes starting testing wires from a wiring diagram /
