Hello... I'm swapping rear axles. Donor car had reconditioned one last year. Is it worth changing brake pipes and flexible hoses for new ones at the same time? Much of a job?.
I might have no choice, of course, depending on how well it all comes apart.
Wish me luck ?

The old saying, 'If it ain't broke don't mend it' comes to mind.
If they need changing, change them. If they don't, don't. Really, only you can make that decision at the time. Be interesting to get your feedback when you examine their condition.

I think I would concentrate on getting the axle on.
If needed the brake pipes can be changed easily enough with the axle in place.

Thanks for the positive reinforcement of my existing bias. As little work and cost as possible.
I'm imagining that, from previous experience, the main part of job will be straight forward but it will be the unexpected brake pipe/cable seized that will hold things up.
I'll let you know. Nice day for it.....?

My best advice is to change the flexible pipes when you have the best access !! The hydraulic system is already disrupted and in need of bleeding - future proof your labour / wallet while you have chance .... solid pipes will go again subject to inspection same with fricion and drum components.

Well, that was a fiddle. I could change axles all day long. Hardest part was dealing with seized up brake unions ?

Glad it went well.
There's not that much holding the axle on is there.
