DESPERATE WITH MY BERLINGO DESIRE 2.0 HDI 2004 codes P0400 and P0402
#1
Dear All

I have sell a berlingo forte 2004 with 187000 miles and bought the most desire one the "Desire model".
was a bargain. The guy told me that it was the Air flow meter as the engine doesn`t go more then 3000 rpm in each gear.
As i know that could be problems with the EGR i bought for £500 drove it to home and next day went in the workshop. So the turbo was broken, the ERG was block with small plate in the tube probably to get a mot; anyway new (used) turbo, new EGR, new solenoide valve, clear the codes P0400 and P0402 and off i go. Some miles ahead again cut off the engine to maximum 3000rpm, and since then i have clear the codes for several times, because sometimes i drive 100miles other times 0,5 miles is absolutely desperately and i don´t know what to do so the mechanic. I have read about codes P0400 and P0402 and could be several things but all related with the EGR, anyway i need help desperately as we (me and my wife) need the car every day. Thanks for any help

When I had problems with the air flow meter I just disconnected it and the car ran fine till I bought a new part.
So where does this bit go then ?

Is your car a 2.0 HDi?

If so, your 3000 rpm is probably 'limp mode' related to the EGR. Try disconnecting the electrical connector to the EGR solenoid valve and then reset the fault codes. You will get a new fault & probably also the EML will come on but your car should rev ok.

Please let the forum know how it goes? It may also be that your EGR is stuck open, you should be able to hear it snap closed by sucking hard on the vacuum pipe and letting the air back into the pipe quickly.

Hy Guys

I have been in holidays and before i go i have disconnect the solenoid and clean all the faults with Diagbox, the car since then run perfectly normal in full power. No the problem still persists means the EGR is not working as i don´t hear nothing. Again any new suggestions i do appreciate.

cheers
