Ongoing problem with speedo on mk 2 berlingo van, i have replaced gearbox gear sender/sensor unit, and also the actual speedo unit itself, both to no avail, has anyone any ideas on what else could be causing the speedo not to work?

My speedo stops working now & then. I think it's the electrical connection at the gearbox sender. From what you've written, you probably have an electrical connection issue too. I'm not certain but I'm guessing that the speedo wiring goes to the BSI, then into the CANBUS network as data which is used by various functions such as cruise control & trip computer. OBD-2 applications such as Torque will show the OBD-2 speed but I'm not sure if that output is available on the Berlingo.
I need to do a quick check on my car with Torque , so will see if the speed is available.
Update:
OBD & GPS Speed look like they will work via Torque, OBD speed tested ok on my '05 2.0
