i have an issue with my 06 600d, the steering is notchy and heavy, it will be heavy for 20degrees then be fine then heavy again etc
i suspected the powersteering pump so replaced with a refurb unit, and boom steering was fine for 200miles and now its starting to deteriorate again.
anyone had this before? fluid level is fine so i dont think im loosing any

Its not the U/J at the bottom of the steering column is it? Known for seizing and giving your symptoms

As Polar says check the U/j where it enters the engine bay, the heat of the engine dries it out and becomes stiff. Spray it with something like motorbike chain lube, also there is a U/j under the dash check that to.
Are we there yet?????

cheers gents i will investigate tomorrow after work when the sun is out. is it possible to buy a new U/J or is it going to be a PITA to rectify

Yes you can just buy the U/J but like Tomcat says a decent spray can sometimes sort it.
