EML on after fuel filter swap 2.0 hdi
#1
Ok, i changed my fuel filter on my 2.0hdi '05 yesterday afternoon. It drove fine last night but I was driving today i lost power and the EML came on (I am now running on what feels like half power) I cant see these being coincidence. I actually swapped back to the original filter to see if it was that but no avail. I just straight swapped the filter over I'm not sure if this has let air into the system or there is a more specific procedure i should of followed. I plugged my cheapo code reader in which flagged these up.[Image: e04fde80017de9ced1ab9a9211e3cbf1.jpg][Image: e1d55d3c49b13a4a988fd00bf79da7dd.jpg]

Not sure about the first fault, but the second fault suggests air in the system. Did you purge the air with the primer bulb?

Tbh I did forget to do this. I did drive it directly afterwards and it was fine. I drove it the day after and it started playing up. However today

• I swapped the orgininal filter back over.
• Pumped the bulb for 15 mins. (Sore thumbs)
• Let the car idle for 15 mins (no EML)
• had the car held at 1500 rpm for 10 mins (no eml)
• Once i pushed the car to 2000rpm i felt the hesitancy and the EML returned (with the same codes as shown above)

Ok i think ive fixed it. Even though there was no fuel coming out of the filter housing and it was on tight, it wasn't on as tightly as possible, which after using every ounce of my puny strength i believe it is now so it could be still letting air in.

So repeating the above steps but pumping the bulb until every visible micro bubble was expelled from the line (took about 20 mins) has 'appeared' to fix the problem. Took it for a 10 minute drive and no further codes thrown up. Phew. Watch this space though.
