Engine and cambelt help
#1

Hi guys,

Its a 1.9D (Non turbo) DW8

I started doing the cam belt on it a while ago and I've been putting it back together this week

This is the cam belt tensioner:

As in the diagram below does it matter if I turn the tensioner clockwise, or anti clockwise to tension the belt?

Next I bought a new bottom pulley for it, this is what came in the box:

and here is the toothed pulley that it bolts up to:

Now looking at the parts in the box that the new pulley came in, I see there are two washers, and I don't remember there being any washers on it when I took it apart, I certainly can't find them if they were there when I took it apart, although looking at the bottom pulley it looks like there was the larger one looking at the marks on it:

So should I refit it with

A) Just the big bolt and the 4x 10mm bolts holding the outer pulley on

B) Fit the big washer and the 4x 10mm bolts holding the outer pulley on

or

C) Fit both the new smaller washer (nearest the bolt head, then the big washer) and of course the 4x 10mm bolts

Any help would be much appreciated

Andy
