Well here goes, I've got a 2002 Multispace forte 1.9 DW8B which developed what seemed to be an intermittent misfire or fuel starvation for a few seconds with a loss of power following soon after. Managed to pull over and tick over was fine, decided to make for home, but with little power from the engine, hills were difficult. I changed the fuel filter. At rest, cratch: tick over is perfect, if I try to increase revs, the air control unit in front of the manifold rattles and smokes in that area. I have cleaned out the control unit of all residues and replaced it. Have found that if I disconnect the steel recycling tube from the control unit, engine revs ok. Mass air flow unit seems clean. I think all vacuum pipes are intact.
So I anybody can shed some light on this problem then I would appreciate the information.
UPDATE:
If anybody is interested, the problem has been resolved by replacing the EGR valve and replacing the exhaust system as there was a severe blockage in the CAT and rear muffler section. Thanks to those who read my post, it's refreshing to know that you guys are ready to help when you can. Thanks Berlingo Forum....
