muck

I own a 2004 berlingo one owner pristine condition which I look after. The other day I noticed when the front doors are wide open looking into  the A pillar(I think) by the bottom hinge there is a considerable mud /leaf trap at the bottom of the pillar. Mine were both blocked with gunge which were cleaned with a hose and some deft prodding with a screwdriver. This has to be a considerable rust trap. Are your pillars clean. I have an Amdro in the parts section for sale- cheers Alun

I recently bought a M59 Multispace, 2008. The drivers carpet was damp, and I traced it to a blocked scuttle drain.

As the car was new to me, I decided to investigate thoroughly, so I removed the wipers (after marking their screen positions with strips of masking tape), then removed the plastic scuttle, and found that under the scuttle there were many handfuls of compressed muddy composting gunk!

It took ages, using hands and hosepipe, to get it all cleared out. Now I can pour water over the scuttle and it drains instantly, and the carpet is drying out fast. I greased the wiper mechanism while the scuttle was off, and touched up a couple of spots of mild rust.

Now I'm going round the car, looking in every crack and crevice to make sure there is no more lurking potential rust. I've also jacked the back up with the wheels off and undersealed (warm Waxoyl) the rear half. Front half gets done tomorrow.

There are a few threads about water getting into the BSI due to the drains under the windscreen getting blocked.
